Toolkit for State Medicaid Advocates
Families USA, a national health care consumer advocacy group, has
included on its website an action kit providing arguments that advocates can use when battling Medicaid budget cuts in their states. The kit, "Preserving Medicaid in Tough Times: An Action Kit for State Advocates," contains sections detailing the fiscal condition of the states, discussing strategies for protecting state Medicaid budgets, and highlighting areas of state Medicaid programs most susceptible to cuts. Check out this link to Karl Williams' Web Site: Karl's songs for the self-advocacy movement, on CD & cassette, are widely known. His two as-told-to autobiographies - in the exact words of Roland Johnson of PA and of Michael Long of CA, important leaders in this movement - appeared in 1999. He's just finished working with Barbara Moran, a graphic artist who has autism, on her autobiography, and is now developing a play based on the life and work of Roland Johnson.
